Daily things

I have been updating my life when I am outside... But I have yet update what I do in my daily life. This is my current study schedule:

Mon: 1:30pm - 6:00pm
Tue: 8:30am - 4:20pm (ta ma de)
Wed: 8:30am - 6:00pm (ta ma de)
Thur: 11:30am - 4:20pm
Fri: 10:00am - 2:50pm

Alot of classes for now... I have to wait for Mr. Vice Dean to email me before I can finalize my classes. What a pain in the ass. :/ Anyway, what do I usually do then? I will wake up 2 - 3 hours before my classes to take a shower. Yes I bathe for 30 minutes, I know it's long. and I don't want other people to queue for toilet while I am bathing. But recently I keep waking up late. haha... Then I will eat my muesli with milk and head out to school. There's a break from 12:50pm to 1:30pm and usually I will grab a bun, eat mac or don't eat at all because the queue is super long.

After school, I'll usually hang out with Renee and/or Karola and/or Emmi recently around the neighborhood area to explore this place. Later we'll be shopping at Kievskaya metro station again. I am in a mood to shop! :D Then dinner time it's either we eat out or cook dinner. Usually I'll cook dinner. I'll take photo of it soon. Here are some daily photos:

Emmi and I

I've finished about half of it already ;)

My favourite snack... smoke cheese stick. It's AWESOME!!

The smoke cheese stick packaging... Nom nom nom nom .... :D~~

Soldier's Day

Yesterday we had this school celebration at the club Rai, which means paradise or heaven. Before that, I saw another 2 violence case again within 20 minutes. One asian looking guy got beaten up and another guy got beaten up by drunkards in another case. Seriously, what is wrong with these guys? They didn't do anything and they just got beaten up.

I wore heels and walk through the snow with heels again. Speaking of which, I forgot to tell u guys that I wore heels to the Ball and I dashed through the snow with my heels. Hahaha. I think I am getting used to wearing heels and walk through snow. Anyway, the club is really like heaven/paradise. The dancers there are really COOL. All of them have at least 4 pacs of abs. Damn those sexy chicks! Make me jealous. I didn't took any photos becos I forgot to bring my camera... I used Karola's camera instead. But the drinks is expensive there. If you go in on a normal day, it costs 700 rubs. But we bought the ticket at 450 rubs because our school sort of booked the place from them. The drinks is about 200 - 2000 rubs for 50ml shots alcohol.

Mega Update

Please be prepared for a super long post...

Day 11
I met this girl, Olia, during my Russian Language lesson break. She went to our room... and she turns out to be the student who went to SMU for exchange a year ago! What a coincidence! It's really a small world after all. Her english is not bad. (Can check her face on my fb photos)

Day 12
Went to the shopping center at Kievskaya Metro Station... The shopping center is normal I guess.. the stuffs there isn't that cheap. I guess it's around the same price as Sg. There's Mango sales.. So I bought a coat and a nice red shirt from there. Omg.. I spent maybe 4000 rubs that day I think. It was really tiring... we shopped for 7 hours but we only patronized a few shops.. Oufff!

Day 13
The day where Russians celebrate the Maslenitsa. It's the day where they welcome spring and say goodbye to the winter. We took a 25 mins train ride from Dorbryninskaya to Park Kultry and then change it to the red line and sat to Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad Station. Then a 10 mins walk to the express train station... and then took a 40 minutes train ride to the forest station which I still have no idea where it is lollol. We went with this half-drunkard guy from Germany. It's HILARIOUS. It's the reason why I didn't feel tired at all because we went with this guy. He partied till 6am in the morning and joined us at 8am. He couldn't walk properly and insisted on going and he tagged along. In the train he was like still partying and he brought another can of beer with him and then he said, "FOLLOW ME. I know it's this way" hahahaha!! Yes we should follow the drunk guy.

Then we walk into the forest for another 40 minutes. In between he went out of the trail and pissed at the white winter forest. So that spot became yellow snow hahaha!! After that every yellow snow I see, I know its urine (be it dogs or human). Finally we reached there but we have to sing some Russian song to get in!! I didn't know how to (obviously), so I just moved my mouth and made some noise like I know what they are singing. Then there was a big commotion infront of me... guess what? The drunk guy was on national TV!! He sang infront of the national TV. hahahahaha!! But I admire his spirit. He was super active and participative in most games despite of his condition.

Fast forward, in this celebration, people from the ground are suppose to steal the paper doll from the snow castle. The paper doll symbolizes winter so they have to snatch it and burn the paper doll. But it's still snowing now anyway so I dunno how they send the winter off. Then we stayed outside in the snow till 3pm.... It's like 6 hours in the snow. It's freaking cold. Probably - 14 degrees. But hell yeah! it's super interesting and adventurous!

After that we went back to the station and bought some really cheap vegetables at the market near the metro station. Sibei shag.

People have to sing at the entrance!

Day 15
I have a new room mate! Her name is Emmi.. she's from finland, 21 and she's married to a Russian man for 3 years! But I really enjoyed chatting with her. Now I feel even happier now! Apparently she's a vegetarian too. Seems like i know alot of vegetarians here. Lucky she speaks fluent Russian so the next few days we hanged out a little and she's really not bad. :D

Day 18
Went walking around my dorm area with Emmi and saw Malboro selling at 46 rubs... (2.20 SGD) Super cheap... the cheapest I found was 10 rubs... can u believe it? It's 50 cents sgd!!!

Day 19
It's the Plekhanov Ball! Wellllll to be honest, it was BORING. Now I know where half of the crowd went when it was 8pm and the ball was suppose to end at 9pm. But it's lucky that I stayed till 10pm cos that's where the real fun began! No more ball room dance, it's free style and nice song and nice food! And be prepared cos I am going to blast my self-potrait photos. WHAHAHAHAAHAHHA:

I was stalking this girl.. she looks so gorgeous in real life!

Funny faces we made in the toilet hurhurhur

Be prepared of tons of self-portrait photos ;)

Don't I look skinny at this angle? :P

Hee hee

I was about to burst out of laugh because my room mate noticed that I am taking photos of myself. SOoooo paiseh

And then she suggests me to take infront of the mirror, I did : )

Another try!

Spam ahhhh!

It's all about angles..

See if you take at the wrong angle with the wrong lighting, i look like a demon LOL

Alright last one. Thank you for seeing all my spams. Wahahahahaha

Video of the ballroom dancing competition!

Day 20
Emmi and I went to the Moscow Zoo. I've always liked the idea of doing alot of things during winter because there is no winter or snow in sg. So I just did it... we just went to the zoo. It's a very old zoo. It started from 1864 and woo it's freaking cold there. Cool yeah? okok here are some photos:

Look like a nothing special bird but...

LOOK AT ITS HAIR LOLLOL

It's so cold... I had to bring my Russian hat flaps down.. do i look like a monkey?

My favorite animal... white tiger :)

Black Jaguar... cool man...

Okay.. after the zoo visit, we encountered 2 violence case within 10 minutes!!! Scary... Emmi and I witness the racist attack. 3 white russians took off their jackets and chase down 2 Nigerian guy... one of them ran to the opposite of the big street and the other went to the other side and he was unlucky because all 3 white russians were chasing him down. And then they started beating him at the side of the road and cars were honking at them and for maybe 3 minutes, the police came to save the day. It's pretty scary. I heard these skinheads only attack guys of other races... should i feel lucky that I'm a woman?

But anyway... after the police came, we hurried off down into the metro station and we witness another case. There's this young guy probably drunk, fighting with an auntie. They were about to go physical I think... but the guards pulled them apart. One thing good about Moscow is that they have alot of guards and police around so any violence is resolved at the quickest time. We were so near them and we tried to siam them but the commotion always goes near us I dunno why haha. Other than that, it was pretty much of a happy day. : )

Too Easy

Okay I am being sarcastic here. Studying here is not easy at all! haha 18 hours of Russian per week?! CRAZY!

Okay... I came Russia alone for A reason. That is to do some personal reflection and think of a long term solution for it. BUT ever since I reached here, I did not self-reflect at all! So this afternoon after my intensive 10am to 3pm russian lesson, I decided to cook a good and big meal for myself and do some self reflection.

My personal reflection for today:

NOTHING

HAHAHA LOL

Long Distance Relationship

My room mate left me for the fun and exciting level 4 (I stay at the quiet and boring level 5 btw). It's kind of sad because I am now alone in my room. But I guess it's okay... a new one will come. She's not the perfect room mate... but she was a very nice girl to chat with. I really love chatting with her. But all her friends are at level 4 and she has to come back to level 5 by 1am. because they will lock the level's door at 1am and the administrator (Dejurnaya) can be quite fierce sometimes. She likes to smoke and chat with her friends at the level 4 living room till very very very late... I think she might have felt that she will disturb me in the middle of the night, but actually I'm okay with it... so there she goes. Ciao!

Anyway... Some updates:
Last night... I chatted with this guy from Russia. He stays in the dorm (his room is next next door to mine), but he doesn't belong to our school and he was a seamen. I LAUGHED SUPER HARD WHEN HE SAID THAT. Semen.... seamen. Okay anyway he's a very friendly guy so talking to him was comfortable.

Today I had my first Russian lesson. It's SUPER TIRING. It's seriously information overload. Because I belong to the zero level, we have to learn everything from scratch, like a baby. IT'S REALLY TIRING. FYI, my class only have 2 people... renee and me. After that I went for international marketing class, it was super slack. Then I went for the bravest thing I have ever done... I went to dance class with the Russians. OMG I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS BALLET! I thought it was just normal modern dance class. It's super embarrassing because their posture's all so nice and mine is like shit. But I think I will continue the class... I wanna walk with a nice posture!

OKay... so about the title of today's post... I have a few dorm-mates here whose boyfriends and girlfriends are back at their hometown. Before I start my rattling, here are some beliefs I hold. I believe that long distance relationship (LDR) can work if there is plenty of communication. Some people can do it, some just can't.

After some chats and stuffs like these, I feel that LDR is really tough! Just by hearing stuffs, is enough to make my beliefs change. I heard from this girl from holland, she told me that she wants to chat with her boyfriend face to face and not just through messaging but she can't .. her boyfriend is always in some circumstances where video chatting is not possible. It's not that she doesn't understand her bf's situation, it's just that she really hope that he could be the one who will listen to her stuffs first hand and she really missed her bf alot. So I told her, you can always talk to me, i can act as your boyfriend. But she told me the feeling is different (in a very serious tone although I was just kidding).

Then another guy told me another thing... he told me that it's not that he doesn't trust his gf, but lately his friends has been telling him some havoc stories about what his gf has done and he really is not in the mood to socialize or anything. I feel tired and tough for both of them. I think the only person who managed to survive this is my sis and xs. The rest all gone case. I wonder if I ever experience LDR, will it last?

Jealous

4 days ago, we went to red square.... and we ate ice cream in the cold winter! hurhurhur I also bought the Russian Hat which I have been eyeing for quite some time.

But i think I should update abit. I went on an adventure with marina and Renee 3 days ago. We went to moscow state university and we walked to sparrow hills metro station. It was -16.7 degrees and we were so cold that we decided to jog. Jogging in the snow is really refreshing. The cold wind freezes your cheek, but you can feel the heat coming out from your body and you don't feel that cold anymore!

We had to walk pass the university's stadium and we were sort of lost. There were no lights down the road and the roads were slippery because of the melted snow which turned into ice again. IT WAS SUPER EXCITING... we have to walk down the hills through the slippery stairs and there were no lights and some of the pavement were blocked by piles of snow which were not so visible But we managed to find our way out. Then Marina brought us to this nice place to eat. That was the first time I have tried borsche. And I really love it cos it tastes just like my mom's soup except she doesn't use beet root, she use potato. hahaha. Who says I will miss home cook food when their food is quite similar to ours? They eat rice and they have alot of Japanese food here too!

The adventurous road is all covered with snow and no lights!!

Happy big big meal! See just like home food.

Renee really ate alot hurhurhur...

Must act like super full... so squeeze double chin

Marina and I acting like we're very full hurhurhur.

Then two days ago we went to ice skate in a sokoslinki park. OMG... the experience is totally different from ice skating in SG. In sg... the floor is so smooth and if you don't know how to stop, you can just bang on the wall like me. But over there... open air, no walls and the road is bumpy. hahaha. But it was fun. My feet almost froze!!!!! So so so so cold! I started panting really fast maybe because I am really not cut out for ice skating.

See my new Russian Hat~ Okay I have big nostrils because I was panting from ice skating.

P.S. I'm Jealous like a nasty bitch. okay I should sleep. Super tired.

In Moscow

Day 0 - 1st Feb 2010
Finally I've arrived at Moscow. I remembered that I had requested for a pick up service. They will fetch me with a van and my stuffs to the dorm. I reached there at 10:00pm, chopping of passports, collecting luggage etc.. I came out of the gantry at about 10:30pm. I looked around to see if anybody holds a sign of my name, nope. Not a sign. I went around and many taxi drivers were asking if I need taxi service. I just go "nyet nyet, spah see bah" (No, no, thank you). At 11pm, I began to worry... did the person met any accident??? I hurried to the nearest internet kiosk which costs 60 Rubs for 15 mins (1 sgd = 20.8Rubs). Log into facebook and looked for latest messages and Marina left me a message. We did not exchange handphone contacts! In the message, she stated that she could not make it, but her best friend who stays in the dorm will pick me up. Then I paid the 60 Rubs and waited patiently for the girl whose name is Natasha.

A tall young girl walked by. I was very certain that she was Natasha from the very first sight. I walked to her when she was beginning to flip open a big piece of paper that says "GINA HO". Yeap it's her! She apologized to me for being late and I said it's okay. We had to catch the last train at 00:00. She told me that my name was not found in the list for the pick up service. I told her it's okay, I'd love to experience the express train, just that we might have problems carrying the luggage. She was very nervous because this is her first time bringing an exchange student and her english was not so good. So I tried to chat with her, let her feel at ease, made some lame jokes and she was not too nervous. We sat on the train and chatted many stuffs, from family to education, to the gays in the army. I thought her english was not that bad. Anyway Marina left me a very long and big piece of letter and called to apologize, and I said it was okay, I understand.

Finally we reached our station. A guy name benny (he stayed here for one sem already cos he's on some double degree program), from Austria, and another Russian girl,Anya, came to help me with my luggage and we walk through the snow. Ahhhh!! It feels sibei shiok to have the snow falling on my face!!! It was 0 degrees I think, not as cold as I have expected. I love the snow. It was... yasashii... soft and kind type of snow. haha I don't know how to explain. Finally I reach the dormitory after 1am. There's this rule in the dorm that in between 1 am to 6 am you cannot go into the dorm, if not you will face serious issues (weird right). Luckily I am a new student, so it's okay. I reached there, register my name etc and they helped me carried my stuff up and I stay at level and here is my room:

The bathroom... Looks abit rundown, but I have seen worst so this is nothing.

The cramp toilet... Again, I must emphasized that I have seen worst, so this is really nothing.

My bedroom... I find the view really not bad! I have taken a few pictures and posted it in fb.

Okay... and then I slept at 3am (Russian Time).

DAY 1
This is the tough day. We did administrative stuff for 7 hours. They seem to have a lot of nitty gritty stuffs that are not really necessary. The admin process can be streamlined etc... but I have seen the worst, so this is nothing. Also waiting for long period of time made me had the chance to know more people. So I met Renee, Lianne, Melvin and Korola from The Netherlands, Holland. Catalina from Austria, Natasha from Germany, Rochsan from Belgium. The 1st Feb batch of students mainly consisted of people from Germany and Holland.

After 9:00 to 16:00, we went to this nice restaurant call "MyMy" (Pronounced as MooMoo). It's crazy. I don't understand a thing from the menu. I just pointed this and that and asked my friends who knows alittle bit of Russian about what it actually means. The food was not bad. I had a meatball cabbage soup, Breadcrumb chicken, salmon salad, a small piece of brown russian bread and a big cup of apple juice. It costs about 15sgd. I ordered too many stuffs, but I was super hungry as I did not ate breakfast.

After that long day we head back to the dorm. I wanted to use the internet, so i asked my neighbour who stayed here for a semester already about setting up of internet. His from Bulgaria and his name is petar. He told me that there will be this internet guy who will go to your room to set up internet and offered me to use the internet if i want. I said YES!!! I was really in need of checking my emails and everything! I quickly used the internet and head downstairs to look for my new dutch friends. It appears that everyone was questioning about the internet thingy and he came!!! All of us waited for the internet guy to come to their room to set up internet. And we were all making fun of how to seduce him into our rooms lol. It's lame, but we have to buy an internet card every 15 days and then we can use the internet and I can only use it the next day! I got really tired and slept at 10pm.

Day 2
Woke up at 10am. Ate a mini breakfast and then we head to Ikea and a hyper mart. It's crazy. I know which station to stop. But I can't really read the station names. I just roughly figured it out. It's like deciphering stuffs. Their metro station is really magnificent! The long and scary escalator down the train platform is like an abyss! never ending. and the tunnel makes me alittle bit dizzy! After we reached the station, we took a bus there. We have to walk to the bus stop and it was snowing quite heavily. The wind was very big and I can't help but to see my friend not wearing gloves. She turned to me and said, "I'm a strong Dutch lady, I don't need to wear any pussy gloves." I LOL. I haven't heard people using pussy for a very long time. It's so funny lolx.

Okay finally we reached Ikea about 1 hour ride in total. It's just like Singapore Ikea except slightly cheaper. Then some head back to the dorm, some went ahead to the hypermart. Woohhh... I bought maybe 10 kgs of stuffs and it's really heavy to carry them back. We reached the station and hurried home to get the internet card and start using internet! But after using it for a few whiles, I find it a bit tiring and so I stopped it. I came here not to use the internet! I head down and interact with people till about 1am and then head back to sleep.

Day 3
This morning I cut alot of veggies and shared my veggies with Renee to make sandwiches and she shared with me her expensive French Cheese. It tastes great!

Today...orientation day. I went to explore the school with renee and I start to learn more alphabets. Renee and I belong to the "Zero level" group. So we explored the school and went to meet our "Zero LeveL" teacher who speaks only in Russian and I almost died communicating with her. SOS.

It's tiring so I will not continue to rattle on. :/

At Dubai Waiting for Flight to Moscow

I am in Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, Costa Cafe now. The temperature in Dubai now is 27 degree celcius, sunny and the place is 8000 plus km away from Singapore! Now they are singing prayers and the entire airport u can hear it O.o...

Anywayssss, I spent 10 Euro dollars with the change of 3 AED. The counter lady told me 1 Euro can change 4.90 AED. It's quite expensive... I ordered a chicken noodle salad and a caramel Frescar and you must be wondering why am I eating such heavy stuff? I have no idea too. The food that I ate in the plane just made me even hungrier!

My dad and Mom drove me to changi airport this morning, but once they saw my poly friends, they siam damn fast lollol. I have no idea why. Okay, but thanks for sending me off. I didn't want too many people to send me off too. The entire scene will look quite awkward hehe. But poly friends we always send each other off, so it's okay! My cute bin gave me a toy! I don't know how to pronounce it... is it koo-bee? Thanks!!

Okay then I board the plane... was praying real hard for a handsome guy to sit beside me. But guess what? NO ONE SAT BESIDE ME...... but it's okay, cos i get to lie down like some lam nua kia. hurhurhur. I hope the plane to russia later also have nobody sitting beside me. Anyway the fisherman's friend bottle jar that I brought in my hand carry got checked hahhahaha. The police officer laughed at me. I feel so paiseh. But heck. I love fisherman's friend!

Btw, the inflight entertainment of Emirates is really award winning. Their ICE (Information Communication Entertainment) System is really very good! I played bejewelled and watch 4 movies. I watched Astro Boy, GI Joe, 500 days of summer and Up! I expected Astro Boy to be some kind of kiddish cartoon, but damn, I cried like hell again. THE story is so emotional that it made me feel that GI Joe is rubbish. Lucky I sat alone. So no one can see the unglam side. wahahah do I even have a glam side? LOL.

Okay I shall upload the photos now! I am super free now, trying to read up more on moscow and learn some russian at the same time.

P.S. There's this quite old arab guy with 3 beautiful ladies, I can't help but to think that they are his wives. And and and all photos are posted in facebook!
